Philosophy for work and play

We're a different kind of video company.

Some firms would prefer if you knew exactly what you needed when you called them: the type of piece, the budget, the location or locations, the format, length, and intended outlet. Not us... we're ready to explore with you how you might use video and new media to strengthen your existing efforts, and pioneer entirely new projects. With us as part of the discussion we can hone in on the strategic items that will make the most difference for your organization.

Brainstorming

With our background in media and experience working with organizations we can understand your needs and turn those into results. We like to start by brainstorming with you some of the ways you can use media more effectively.

Most organizations will benefit from:

  • Short Online Video Visitors to your organization's website can view a short piece about your organization or a recent project.
  • Edited Video Clips on DVDs This simple and inexpensive tool will amplify the impact of your existing relationships with broadcast media. The clips are selected to promote your organization and tell your story in pictures.
  • Donor Video As a fundraising tool, a video can make a powerful case for the importance and urgency of your work. The video can be shown at donor meetings, mailed as a DVD, or viewed online.
  • Video News Release (VNR) Extending your reach in the media, when you have important news to tell a Video News Release helps to deliver it by satellite to local stations around the US and Canada.

That's just for starters. Many possibilities are waiting to be explored. For example: we can provide a training program, small video camera "kits," and editing support services for special projects like kids tell their own story or video smuggled out of hotspots. The possibilities are limited only by the imagination.

Pixelated.tv is currently looking for partners to participate in Extreme Makeover - Village Edition. This project would parody the popular TV show while demonstrating simple and effective techniques for development including solar power, efficient stoves, and improved hygiene practices.

Reuse and Recycle

We always look for ways to make the most of every opportunity. For example, a news feature can be refashioned into a donor video, and a training program can also identify unique new opportunities or be a good story in itself. For this reason we always shoot what is known as "coverage" so that we are able to tell a few different stories from a single field shoot.

Team Approach

You'll probably find that you relate to us less like a contractor and more like we're part of your team. Because we're part of the community, having volunteered and worked for organizations in development, human rights, and progressive social change, we're as concerned with being effective as you are. You may catch us trying to discourage you from projects that won't have a good payback for the investment, but you'll also find us tireless in trying to get you to do the affordable things that are going to show the results.

We think you'll feel right at home with our approach: we here to have fun, we're here to work with you, and we're here to make a difference. That's why we call it Media that Matters.
